Happy New Year 2008
What are your New Year’s resolutions? I have two.
Simplify my life and get rid of stuff.
That sort of goes hand in hand doesn’t it? I’ve been working on the former for several years and now I’m going to get serious about the latter!
To change the subject – Have you ever seen a Jade Plant bloom? I’ve had many Jade Plants; nurtured them; killed them; but New Year’s Eve I discovered that mine has a bloom. Glory be! Could this be an omen?
And to show you something that I snapped quickly without thinking.
Isn’t that beautifu? If I do say so myself. Lesson learned – stop all the fiddling with my art quilts and just do them quickly, spontaneously, and intuitively. I have worked on one for so long, I killed it. This should be at the top of my resolution list.
SIMPLIFY, WORK QUICKLY, SPONTANEOUSLY, AND INTUITIVELY.
May your new year be bright with love and happiness.

Who did you kill? I’ve left them bleeding to death on the floor, too, or perhaps I choked them with too much love. I have recently added those to the bags things to get rid of, and know it will lighten my heart when they’re out the door. Sometimes it seems to be the “stuff” that weighs us down and makes it difficult to entrap that light heart in our work. I’m with you, Emmie – simply-fy!

I agree with Pam, a wonderful mantra! I have been trying to simplify, but find that I deal with stress by buying more books (including books on simplifying) and art supplies…retail therapy. I love to go on retreat to a place where there are just the basics…a bed, a desk, a rocking chair and a reading lamp!

Emmie,
Let me introduce myself – I am a friend of Cathy’s from the lake. Cathy gave me the links to your website and your blog. I really enjoy your photo journeys and especially your beautiful and creative art quilts. I to am a quilter – my joy is machine piecing and some applique – pretty traditional stuff.
Just wanted to say Hi and maybe we’ll meet sometime when you visit Cathy.

I too have a jade plant with two clusters of bloomon it. I’m wintering it in our garage where it is cooler than our house. Maybe that is the reason it is blooming at this time. I have them bloom before but it had been so long ago I had forgotten they bloom.
